Hail the Conquering Wussy

I am sure it is not a secret that I am not the bravest person in the world. Yesterday afternoon, I surpressed that scaredy cat all in the name of love.

For Spencer's birthday he had asked to see I am Legend, because I loved him I said sure...but the day came and after dinner I found convienent excuses to get home without seeing the movie. I explained to him that Andy and Melissa would be here for Christmas and they could watch the kids while we went during the day. Well, their visit came and the planned date day came and then passed with me finding again more excuses not to go. It didn't help that Andy had told me that I would be significantly scared and that Melissa had hit him several times during the movie because it had been so scary.

Spencer was pretty bummed, and I am sure you can imagine I took quite a teasing about bailing on him. Well, I remedied all of this yesterday. I had planned a surprise date for Spencer during the day. I had called his work and got them to schedule a 4 hour teleconference so that I could come and kidnap him. And because I am a pretty awesome wife I took him to see a pretty stinking scary movie.

Good news is, I live to tell the tale, and I kept my promise to go see a movie that just the thought of made me all queasy. Plus no nightmares, so yeah. Oh and ps, the movie wasn't as bad as it could have been. Although I did have my eyes close for quite a bit of it. Next I think that Spencer should take me to 27 dresses...it is my turn.

Digital Scrappers Beware!

HERE COMES LARISSA. This blogging thing has opened many a doors for me. The most important thing is that it has given my creative juices an outlet. I have been in the scrapbooking blues for a little while due to the fact that it has gone away in light of "budget cuts" at Zitzman Inc. All I have to say is "Welcome back scrapbooking!"

I have always said that I wouldn't do digital scrapbooking. I gave the self-righteous answers of "paper is the real art" and "digital is ugly, who wants to do that". In reality, that was only my cover for being technologically terrified that the whole process would chew me up and spit me out...oh and that I would feel like a complete tard when all was said and done. Who needs the trauma?

I still have a long way to go, but I know that I will get the hang of it. I wanted to share with you my first attempt. Don't worry I won't send you every page I do...I don't want you all to take me off your blog lists. I just got so excited when I finished this set of pages that I had to share.

My First Haircut

Before

After...awe you can see his eyes now

More after...new haircuts are funny!

No not Jack's first haircut, but my first time doing a haircut on one of my boys. I never really worried about doing Cole's because when it was curly I just let it get all surfer boy. I wouldn't even touch Spencer's because I don't think that I could use that buzzer thing and I am not sure that he would look good with just a complete buzz.

Jack is another story. I tried to let his hair get all wild, just hoping to see that familiar curl...but alas the curl never really came. He just looked like a wild bruiser. However, I couldn't justify taking him to a stylist and paying $10 to cut his wispies. So I dediced this morning in a fit of inpatience to grab my scrapbooking scissors (yeah I know really professional) and go for it.

It was one test of patience. One because Jack is not as docile as Cole and wasn't going to just sit there and take it. I had to rotate different distractions. He got to play with my cell phone, then my ipod, an extra comb with water, a dvd, the tv remote...basically everything he normally wouldn't get to play with.

After about 40 minutes it was done...yes that is how long it took. AND you can't look too close because the front was the last part and I found out that it is hard to cut someones head when they are shaking it back and forth.
So I am sharing my work with you...by chance Siobhan if you look at this you can't judge me!

I Am Out of Control

I realize that I haven't even had this blog up for that long and I have already changed the background. Besides my obsession with making this thing scraptastic, I also realized that it was awfully hard to read all of the posts. So, I redid our template, and now it is cute and readable. I also added a special Cole and Jack section, in case you were wondering if I was obsessed with my kids enough. For now it just has a Cole spot, but soon we will add Jack.

In case any of you are wondering how I got the template to look this way...first of all my sister-in-law Melissa guided me through it. Second, I got the "paper" from a site www.shabbyprincess.com. It is a digital scrapbooking site that lets you download free paper packets. It is pretty stinking cool, and I hope to start trying to digitial scrapbook as well.

Also, thanks for all the posts. I love knowing you are checking in.

Our Two Boys

Cole and Jack bring so much joy into our lives. What better way to start off our family blog then to show them off. It is so much fun to watch them become so close. From the very beginning Cole was so happy to have a brother. As they each have gotten older it is fun to see how they influence one another. Cole has made Jack want to already be 4. Jack thinks that he can climb on things, ride bikes, eat with real silverware and drink out of real cups. Jack has taught Cole to be more fearless. I love listening to them laugh with eachother. Everytime that happens it manages to erase the memories of Cole telling me "Whatever!" and Jack throwing chunks of fruit not only over the table but clear into the kitchen, and reminds me that "this" is what I do it all for. They truly are the best things I ever made...okay we, I did have help.

Officialy Joining The Blogging Phenomenon

Okay, I am in. I kept saying that I would do this, but I just didn't have the time to put into it. Technically I still don't, but who needs to vacuum every day. So here I am christening our family's official blog. I am sure it will be boring at first, but as I embrace this blogging thing and as I figure out the system more, I am sure that it will soon be just riveting.
