Being a Momma

It has been a day.

You know, a day where nothing on your list gets done, so you add a couple of items onto the bottom just so you can cross them off...
get dressed
get boys dressed
changed a few diapers
slapped together some pb&js
kept the peace
separated a scuffle
gave a hug or two
cleaned up toys
cleaned up some more

A day where all you really get done is the Momma Jobs.

Not the wife jobs.
Not the housewife jobs.
Not the cleaning lady jobs.
Not the cafeteria lady jobs.
Not the blog/craft/sew jobs.

Just the Momma Jobs.

It's all good...

I like the Momma Jobs...

The pay is the absolute best...

sweet. grubby. ah-doring. squeezy. hugs.

lots of hugs.

So yeah, it has been a day.

A pretty perfect one

Whew...I Made It

You had to make it into the top 10 to move on...I was 9. Whew, barely made it. Thank you to all of you who took an extra second of your day and went and voted...it is because of you that I will consume just half the bottle of pepto instead of the entire one.

My very favorite project was the winner and I could not be less surprised that Bree from the Extra Ordinary Bree won with this ah-mazing project.

Awesome, right?

Well I live to craft another day. I am having idea overload. I am really trying to make something without having to go to the store. We will see if I can pull it off. I am sure hubby is going to sigh and roll his eyes when he comes home and my craft supply has thrown up all over our bed.

Sorry hubby. We can push it on to the floor when it is time to go to bed...oh wait I never do that...

I truly do appreciate all of you who voted for me. Hopefully you will come back at the end of the week to throw vote again. This weeks' theme is-

In a Nutshell: Ice, Ice, Baby

vanilla, ice, ice baby.

stop, collaborate and listen.

ice is back with a brand new edition.

something grabs a hold of me tightly...

Okay now that I have you singing that lovely 90's rap song. Hehehe.

So this week we were not immune to the same artic cold weather that the majority of the nation had. I will say, we did NOT have it rough. We got hardly any snow and only had two snow days unlike our friends in Texas. So why a Snow Day if we had no snow...

Well we did get freezing rain. It covered everything in a sparkley, glistening, slippery surface. So what do you do when this ice covers everything, school is out, it is too slippery to play outside?

What do you do when this is the main attraction in the movie called "Your Week at Home with Stir-Crazy Boys"?

You introduce your Little Actors to this supporting character...

Yup, when it is gross outside and you need 10 minutes of silence from the screeching, running, yelling, wrestling, you feed them.

Homemade popcorn is the absolute BEST.

If you have never heard of a Whirlypop, well go HERE  (just one of many links, you can google it too) and then hook yourself up with this wonderful popcorn popper. Your kids may never want microwave popcorn again.

So easy, pour just a tiny bit of oil in the bottom, dump 1/3-1/2 cups corn kernels in. Then over medium high heat, just turn the handle and stand there anticipating the lovely "pop...pop...POPPOPPOPPOPPOPPOP that is soon to follow.

So here is recap our week:

cold
ice
more ice
no school
more no school
screaming
wrestling
running
hair pulling (me not them)
popcorn

silence...

well at least until they needed a refill on their bowls.

ALSO if you haven't voted yet because you keep losing the sticky not reminding you to do so...or you still forgot what the string tied around your finger was for...

YOU CAN STILL VOTE until tonight.

SO go here

vote for your top 3

Ruffle Tee from JoAnns Tee

A couple of weeks ago I got asked to join a little sewing project. Stefi from Just Chic asked me came up with an idea to have an 5 girls from 5 different blogs all start with the same item of clothing and see what their individual  creative genius will come up with.

The sewing project started with this JoAnns t-shirt. You know the ones. The big boxy somewhat androgynous ones that go on sale pretty regularly. The one rule was that it had to remain a shirt. I thunk and I thunk and I thunk some more (yes I know that is not a real word). I really wanted to be able to not go out and purchase any thing additional.  I chose to embellish using the t-shirt itself.

This is what I came up with, a gloriously ruffly t-shirt. A much more feminine version to its once boring cousin.

Here is what I did for this pretty little refashion-

-redid the neckline
-altered to be a fitted tee
-used old t-shirt to be the panel for the ruffles
-cut up the front of the original shirt into strips
-sewed it all together

Add a cute cardigan, a cute flower in and NO ONE would know that shirt came from JoAnns.

Go over and check out the other ladies and see what they made-

Stefi from Just Chic
Jennifer from My Two Butterflies
Sarah from Sweet Pea and JoJo
Amy from Positively Splendid

Oh and in case you want to make your own ruffly tee, these shirts are on sale this weekend at JoAnns for 2 dollars. You could even buy two instead of using an old tee shirt for the panel.
