Food Contributor: Baked Potato Soup

I am over at Somewhat Simple today for my monthly food contributor post.

Today I am sharing the recipe for this really yummy Baked Potato Soup. This soup is a house favorite around here, and okay it is a personal favorite. You all know how I feel about soup, I am not shy in expressing my undying love and devotion for all things soup.

I have made this soup for years and it continues to be one I make several times every winter. So head on over and get yourself the recipe.

In the post I  also linked to several other soup recipes I have shared previously on the blog. The post is pretty much like a SOUPerly  fantastic ode to all things soup. I know you will like it!

Come back for Recipe Thursday this week and you
can get yourself another soup recipes. This might be one of
my brand new ultimate favorite soup recipes.

I am just sayin'. People I had this soup TWICE for left overs...
TWICE! That is like some kind of leftover record for me.

Love ya all!
Have a grand day.

A Darth Vader Pillow

I know this is my second post on Oldest's Star Wars theme room...I could promise you it will be the last...but uh...that would be false. Hehehe...I am having some fun with this room. I giggled with glee when I finished the Yoda Stay Calm sign, and then I clapped like a little girl when I finished this oh-so-scary Darth Vader throw pillow.

There has been a lot of Star Wars talk around our house lately. My pile of Star Wars themed stuff and ideas is growing. You wanna know what else is growing (no not my belly, I think I have exhausted those jokes for the last couple of days...although it is true)? My Oldest Little Man's excitement for his new room.

exhibit A--pile of stuff

Oldest waited pretty patiently while I finished his Darth Vader pillow.

He waited while I traced an outline on freezer paper. He waited while I painstakingly cut out Vader's face from black felt. He waited while I slowly sewed on the completed helmet to the pillow front. He waited while I sewed the simple envelope enclosure pillow together.

Then when he got home from school...the completed pillow was waiting front and center for him to see.

Yes, the force is strong with this pillow. It was quite the hit.

You know where else the force is strong?

With our own Littlest Vader.

If you haven't already guessed...the rest of us are the rebels...at least I am sure according to him.

Okay on to another day of room painting...wish me luck!

Thanks for reading everyone!

Congrats! Email me your contact information and I
will get you in contact with Kelcey!

Okay, so back to this edition of A Pinteresting Saturday...this is my project for the week...I might be in love with it!

I am in the middle of a room decorating marathon over here. Nesting has officially settled in and my to-do list is HUGE...just like my belly.

At the top of my list is Oldest's room. His new room has a little bit of a Stars Wars Theme. I have been pinning ideas for a little bit now and I fell in love with this poster the minute I saw it. I immediately made plans to recreate it.

I pulled out one of my handy dandy flat canvases from my craft closet. I taped off the edges and slapped two coats of navy blue paint on it. Then I used my favorite crafting toy...my Silhouette...and I cut out the shape of Yoda's head and the lettering out of vinyl. After that, all I had to do was try my hardest to get it on straight...which is a little difficult when you are a just-make-it-straight-by-eyeballing-it kind of gal like me.

I pulled it off pretty well.

I love the little Yoda silhouette. To get the Yoda head, I simply did a google search for Yoda silhouette in the images. Once I found one I liked, I imported the image into my Silhouette program. Once the image was in the program, I could use the machine to cut out the shape...have I mentioned I love this machine yet?

The font I used was BEBAS.

My other favorite part of this sign...well the wise after thought of Yoda at the end..."yes, hmmmm". My kids kept repeating that all day.

Another project done! Whew! I can't wait to add this sign to my other projects for Oldest's room.

Have a marvelous Saturday friends!!! What pinterest project is on your list this week?

You guys know I love a good party, right? I am always going from one party to ideas for the next. My head is always hoping with what I can do to throw the next fun party for my Little Men.

Well I am lucky enough to have been chosen to be the Party Styling Contributor for the awesome blog Blue Cricket Designs. She has gathered together a bunch of really talented girls, all gifted in different areas, to make one pretty fabulous team of contributors.

AND since I was in the party reflecting kind of mood I thought I would go over some of my past parties and the little addiction love that I have of birthday parties and entertaining.

I also love myself a good creative party invite.

We can't forget the cakes, cupcakes, and goodies.

Dinosaur Party Cake

Whew. I really do like a good party. I actually feel a little overwhelmed and a whole lot of pressure for this new contributor position. Spicy Peanut Noodles

Yum. Yeah. Yum...DOUBLE yum.

I am a BIG fan of noodles. Big. Huge (No I am not currently referring to my weight...)

Anywho...I saw this recipe last week and I immediately checked my pantry to see what I had already and what I needed to go and get. Then I bundled myself and the Little Men up and we headed to the store. Yeah, I wanted it bad enough to brave the grocery store 7 1/2 months preggers with my boys in tow.

What can I say, when a pregnant woman wants a certain thing to eat, well she shall have it says I.

Made them and have them I did...when did I turn into Yoda??

Back to the noodles. These noodles are totally filling enough to have alone as your meal. You could also use restraint and portion control...two things I am lacking these days...and make it the side dish to your favorite Asian meal. I am pretty sure I just heaped a giant helping onto a plate and had a delightful delicious dinner of noddles.

Either way, I am pretty sure you will enjoy these noodles. I even had them the next day as leftovers, which is saying a lot since as some of you might know I have a snobby distaste for leftovers.

So do your noodle-lovin' self a favor and put these noodles on your next weeks recipes. You won't regret it!

Spicy Peanut Noodles
Smashed Peas and Carrots

Printable Recipe

3 tbsp peanut butter
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp honey
3 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp hot sauce
1/2 cup chicken broth
8 oz noodles (I used spaghetti)
Shaved carrot slices
Chopped Cilantro
Crushed peanuts

Fill a medium saucepan with water for the noodles and add noodles once water is rapidly boiling.  Follow package directions as to how long to cook noodles.  In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix together the peanut butter, soy sauce honey, garlic, ginger, hot sauce, and chicken broth until peanut butter is melted and all ingredients are combined well.  Drain noodles and place them in a medium sized bowl.  Add in spicy peanut sauce and mix well.  Plate out noodles and add the carrots, cilantro and crushed peanuts.

There ya' have it. The only thing I did differently from the original recipe...um besides doubling it...did I mention I like noodles and that I am pregnant...was that I added cilantro in at the end. I really like the way the cilantro kicked it up a notch.  Also, just a side note...I don't think this dish was too spicy if any of y'all are questioning the "spicy" part of Spicy Peanut Noodles.

So in the wrap up...noodles good. Noodles super good. Go to the store. Make some noodles.

Thanks for reading! Love ya all!
