Chocolate Oreo White Chocolate Chip Cookies
Cookies...boy do I love 'em.
You know what I love more, well uh, cookies in cookies of course.
Throw in some extra chocolate, well then I am one pretty happy girl.
Glory be!
I am not generally an Oreo eater. I don't really know why. I mean they are quite lovely to eat.
You can eat them as is. You can twist them apart and eat the filling and discard the wafers. You can let them skinny dip in a cold glass of milk and eat them a little milk soaked.
As I am typing this I really am wondering why I don't eat this delightful little cookie more often.
Probably because I want to be able to wear my jeans.
Speaking of jeans...lets not talk about them while we go over the fabulous details about these cookies!
These cookies are chocolaty. They are chewy. They have pockets of Oreo cookies. Yay! And we can't leave out the yummy white chocolate chips, they might get their feelings hurt.
All said and done, I was quite fond of these cookies...oh and the dough. I am pretty sure I have mentioned my love affair for cookie dough before.
So if you have some Oreos laying around ,believe me you will want to make these cookies.
Chocolate Oreo White Chocolate Chip Cookies
Lauren's Latest
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
6 Oreos roughly chopped
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
In the bowl of a mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Then add the dry ingredients to the wet indgredients and mix until well combined. Stir in the Oreo pieces and the chips by hand.
Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Scoop about two tablespoons of dough at a time onto a cookie sheet. Bake for about 8 minutes. Make sure not to over bake. You want them chewy not crunchy.
Now pour yourself a glass of milk and eat up.

A Pinteresting Wednesday: Frayed Cut-Off Shorts
Do you have a wild, running willy-nilly, noise-maker, knee scrapping, jean ripping, bundle of energy?
Also known as a Little Man...
Well it is no secret that I have three said Little Men and one teeny tiny Little Man in training. So it is not surprising that I have a whole pile of jeans missing some much needed fabric around the knees.
I tell you what, I am getting tired of seeing my boys walk in with yet again another hole in the knee.
Not sure why I kept them because jeans are hard to repair and still have look nice. But kept them I did.
How happy was I when I came across this tutorial on Make it and and Love It?
So happy!
I immediately pinned it to my Project To-do Board.
I went from a couple of pairs of ratty-tatty jeans to a couple of sweet pair of frayed cut-offs
I mean it.
All I had to do was cut off the end of the jeans, making sure the holes were gone. Then I ran a stitch around the end 1/4" up from the frayed end. Then I threw the shorts in the washer and the dryer to get the fray going. To finish them off I just cut off the long strings.
Then I put them on the coolest eight-year-old I know.
He is still my rough and tumble, knee-scrapping Little Man.
However, now he is rockin' a pretty stylish pair of frayed cut-off shorts instead of a ratty pair of jeans.
Yup he is pretty gosh darn cute.
Happy Pinning everyone!

Project No More "I'm Bored!": Slime Fun
Slime??
Yes, please. All little hands like some homemade slime to chase away boredom.
Homemade slime is this weeks installment of Project No More "I'm Bored!"
Homemade slime is not a new idea. You can find how to make it almost anywhere out in blogland. I have seen it and I have always had the thought in the back of my head to make it with my boys. It is shocking that I have taken this long to make it.
SO EASY.
I mean, so, so, so easy.
All you need is this line up of ingredients-
Borax
water
Elmer's glue
food coloring
popsicle sticks
First fill a jar half way with water. Then add in 1/2 cup of Borax. Put the lid on the jar and shake, shake, shake to mix the two.
In a separate jar, put equal parts glue and water.
Add a couple of drops of food coloring. Then stir.
Now is the time for the magic.
Slowly mix in small amounts of the Borax solution into the jar with the glue mixture. Stir using the popsicle stick. The new mixture will start to thicken and cling to the popsicle stick. Continue to add small amounts of the Borax mixture until...
Slime is made...wahhahaha...
Keep stirring in the Borax until the glue mixture is completely thickened. Then take it out and let the Slime Fun begin.
Tons and tons of ooey gooey slimy fun.
Slime---a good boredom buster!
Go have some Slime Fun!

Maxi Dress to Maxi Skirt Tutorial
Have you joined the maxi skirt craze?? Man-oh-man I have. I only have two skirts BUT I want more. I mean for sure. They are so cozy plus they are pretty stylish. They can be dressed up or dressed down. Luuuhvve them. I kind of want like 20.
Unfortunately, I don't have the wad of cash I would need to buy 20. Cry. I know...poor me. I will get over it.
Did you know that you can make your own if you have an already existing maxi dress? Well if you didn't know, now you know...AND knowing is half the battle...
The other half is just a smidge of work.
With just a little bit of cutting, measuring, and sewing back together, you can refashion an old blah dress into a delightful skirt.
I started with this dress circa 2009...aka my fat dress for after I had Little.
I decided how long I wanted it to be, then cut the bottom off. Saving enough of the top to make the waistband.
Then I cut off as much of the top as I could to make the waistband.
Then I measured around my waist where I wanted the skirt to hit. I like to wear my skirts low on my hips so that is where I measured. Since the dress is made of knit I subtracted a couple of inches and trimmed off the excess from one side.
Then I sewed the fabric together with a zig zag stitch because I am not cool enough to own a serger...eventually I will be cool.
Next I just folded down the waistband so it is in half, right side out. There will be a folded edge and a raw edge.
The width of my skirt was much bigger than I needed. So I trimmed the width of the skirt to be just about 2 inches wider than the waistband. I cut the excess off of one side.
Then I turned it wrong side out and zig-zaged up the side I had just cut.
To finish up, I turned the skirt right side out. Then I matched up the raw edges of the waistband up with the top edge of the skirt and pinned the waistband in place.
After I attached the waistband I just folded it up, hiding the seam on the inside of the skirt.
Done. One ugly maxi dress gone and one cute maxi skirt made.
Now I can strut my stuff and pretend I am stylish at least once a week...which, yes is how often I wear this skirt.
See what happens when I try to pretend I am all vogue and model-esq...
...my kid reminds me that I am his mom and I am on his turf...
Don't let me get in your way Little! Just trying to get my photo shoot on.Good thing I have kids to help keep it real.
Hope you have joined the maxi skirt craze too and are joining me in all the stylish Summer fun.

In a Nutshell: Baseball Season
Baseball season has started. Oldest is playing after a long hiatus from the sport. Middle is playing for the first time. Oldest is playing machine pitch and Middle is rocking the tee.
The league is pretty low-key. As you can see my boys don't even have baseball pants or hats...although I probably should invest in a baseball cap for those sunny days.
Baseball is always a fun thing to do in the Summer. Hopefully they will continue to learn a thing or two about the sport.
And maybe Oldest will start to open his eyes while batting. His method does work part of the time though.
We are also hoping that the weather will attempt to feel like Summer and that blankets will not always have to be worn in the dug out.
However, no matter what I am pretty sure both boys will have a good time.
Hitting.
Running.
And running some more.
All of course while this one looks on and waits for his day at bat.
