Everything Is Awesome T-Shirt

For days, and I mean D-A-Y-S we have been singing "Everything is Awesome. Everything is cool when you're part of a team. Everything is Awesome when you're living a dream!"

Basically, my boys are obsessed with The Lego Movie. They would watch it everyday if I allowed them. As it is I have to listen to them singing the song and quoting the movie constantly. Which is how I dreamed up this Everything Is Awesome Lego T-shirt.

I was chauffeuring the Little Men around as normal and as usual they were singing "Everything is Awesome...". When Bean suddenly chimed in it caught my attention because of how unbelievably adorable his little voice was. Then somehow brain went from hearing his adorable voice, to thinking that even he loves this movie, to they all love this movie, to I should document that somehow, to "put it on a shirt", and then finally to this shirt.

P.S. As I wrote this sentence I couldn't stop thinking about how poorly it must be written and
how I am exactly what Weird Al is singing about in "Word Crimes".
P.P.S If you haven't listened to that song you should.

I digress. Back to the Everything is Awesome T-shirt.

The yellow t-shirt is from The Mart. I used black heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl. I imported this Lego silhouette onto my Silhouette software. I typed text in the image using Bebas font, which is one of my favorite fonts to use for shirts. You can also do all of this using freezer paper like with this shirt.

Cut. Iron on. Wear.

This shirt caused a lot of fights. My older two were not happy that Little got this Everything is Awesome T-shirt. So now I have signed on to make two more. Ha.

I told you my boys are obsessed.

I guess I can't blame them. This is an AWESOME shirt. You knew that was coming. Ha!

Honey Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

A few years ago here on the blog I had a FROYO week. A whole week devoted to delightful frozen yogurt recipes. Yum that was heavenly. I went a little froyo crazy that year, and the whole family was pretty grateful I made that much frozen yogurt.

Fast forward to last year. I don't think I made any frozen yogurt. I didn't make one single batch of frozen yogurt. Well I just couldn't repeat that this year.

I christened our 2014 Frozen Yogurt Extravaganza with this unbelievable Honey Vanilla Frozen Yogurt.

The base for this frozen yogurt is one of our favorite Greek Yogurts--The Greek Gods Honey Vanilla. Seriously, guys, it is the best. With just a few more added ingredients it makes the best dang frozen yogurt ever.

I love making frozen yogurt because it requires just a few basic ingredients, you add in some extra pizazz, run it through an ice cream maker, let it set up just a bit more in the freezer and then you are ready to dig in.

I don't mind if I do.

Happy FROYO eating!

Honey Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

1 24 oz Honey Vanilla yogurt
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 vanilla bean
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons honey

Cut the vanilla bean open and scrape out the seeds. In a bowl, add in the yogurt, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla bean seeds, vanilla extract, and honey. Mix well.

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker. Once the mixture is set up, pour it into a container. I drizzled a little bit more honey over the top. Then freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.

Script Tee DIY

Script Tees are really rather lovely, are they not? I have really wanted one. Unfortunately I just couldn't find one I really liked within my price budget. I also made the mistake of imagining exactly what I wanted it to say. So then of course I couldn't settle until I had one that said just what I wanted.

You know what this means, right? Yup, it means I had to make one.

So make a DIY Script Tee I did. With the lyrics of one of my favorite songs too.

I'm no beauty queen, I'm just beautiful me...from Selena Gomez's Who Says.

I have a soft spot in my heart for this song. Prepare yourselves for the sweetest story to follow.

I actually had not heard this song when it first came out. Ask anyone who know me well, I tend not to be up to date on the current songs. So when Hubby came in and said he wanted me to listen to a new song I said, "Okay". He prefaced my listening to this song by telling me he wanted me to really listen to the words. He also said that the song reminded him of me and he wanted me to feel that way about myself.

Then I listened to the song. Then I shed some tears. Then I kissed his handsome face. Then I listened to it again.

I can't listen to that song without thinking about him and how beautiful he makes me feel.

Now you can understand why I wanted a scrip tee with the phrase I'm Just Beautiful Me.

Sigh. So sweet.

Anywho. I digress. Making a script tee is insanely easy. All you need is--

a t-shirt
a fabric marker
fabric paint
paint brush

Slip a piece of cardboard in the t-shirt. Write the phrase you want lightly with the fabric marker.

Then trace over your handwriting SLOWLY with a paint brush and fabric paint. Allow to dry. I speed up the process by using a hair dryer.

Then slap on some red lipstick and wear your new script tee proudly.

And believe you are beautiful.

Cauliflower Fried Rice

I know what you are thinking? You are thinking that this looks like some delightful fried rice and I must have accidentally typed in cauliflower in the title. However, I am here to tell you that while you are right about this being delightfully yummy fried rice I did not mess up on inserting cauliflower into the title.

For, in fact, this is indeed Cauliflower Fried Rice and there is not one grain of actual rice used in this recipe. Even though the rice is missing, the flavor is not. You know what else isn't missing? Vegetables! Lots and lots of vegetables. Seriously, this is the best dish to sneak in those vegetables. My kiddos totally ate this up, none the wiser.

Well, Oldest knew so he said he could tell, but I think that is only because he knew my sneaky tricks. The others who were kept in the dark about the veggies gobbled it down with no complaints. Thanks to the shredded chicken mixed into this Cauliflower Fried Rice it was a complete meal in a bowl.

I do want to clarify that the cauliflower in this dish doesn't mimic the exact taste of rice. I just want to be honest with you. However, the texture is super similar and even though it doesn't taste like rice, the flavor is awesome. Again, this was a hit with the family and I kind of felt like Super Mom for a minute realizing how many vegetables I just got my kids to eat. Woot!

You won't be sorry you gave this a try. Yum!

Cauliflower Fried Rice
adapted from Skinny Taste

1 head of cauliflower, rinsed
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
2 egg whites
2 eggs
salt
1/2 onion, diced
1/2 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup diced carrots
1 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
5 green onions, sliced and divided white and green
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 cups shredded chicken

First, remove the core from the cauliflower and then let it dry completely. Chop the head of cauliflower into florets. Place half of the cauliflower into a food processor and pulse until the cauliflower has the texture of rice. Repeat with the rest of cauliflower.

Combine the eggs and the egg whites in a small bowl and beat with a fork. Season with salt.

Spray a wok with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Add the eggs and cook them like scrambled eggs. Remove and set aside.

Add sesame oil to the wok. Saute the onions, scallion whites, garlic, peas, and carrots until soft. About 3 to 4 minutes.

Raise the heat to medium high and and then add in the cauliflower rice. Add in the soy sauce. Mix and cover. Let it cook for about 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently. Add in the egg and the chicken. Stir. Remove from heat and then mix in the green parts of the green onions. Mix in more soy sauce if needed.

Serve immediately.

101 Birthday Ideas for Friends
{Blog Hop Birthday designs by C {dot} love}

Birthdays are the greatest. Yup I said it. I even think they are great when they mean I am getting old. Ha. I think everyone should love their birthday. Sometimes though as a grown up the birthday celebrations might not feel as special. Mostly because the day to day stuff can't put on hold and even if they want to everyone can not revolve around you like the sun that you are.

That is why I love celebrating my friends' birthdays with fun little gifts. Like this Happy Bee Day gift for example. It is the bee's knees. Hahahaha.

Man I think I am funny.

For this "BEE" Day gift, I baked an itty bitty loaf of bread and bought a cute little bottle of honey. I wrapped it all up and attached a bee themed gift tag.

I made this printable using PicMonkey. I know this is shocking to all of you who read this blog on a regular basis. Meaning not shocking, because I use PicMonkey for everything since it is awesomesauce.

You can save this printable to your computer by right clicking it and saving it. Then you just insert it into a Word type document, resize it to the size you need, and print it off.

Easy peasy.

I tied this Happy Bee Day tag to the little loaf of bread with some fabric. Then I happily skipped my way over, yes skipped, to the birthday girl's house and hopefully made her feel special on her birthday.

Such an easy and fun way to make someone feel special on their birthday.
