T-shirts and Bibs and Ties, Oh My!

I got to go to a baby shower last night...love babies...loves showers...love baby showers. I really wanted to make the presents...and finally after a sewing brain cramp, I came up with t-shirt versions of my Vinyl Bibs (I also used velcro instead of snaps).

I really LOVE how these turned out and I think there is more t-shirt bib makin' in my future. So all of you who might be inviting me to a shower...sorry to spoil the surprise.

The green one I simply cut straight from the tee itself and then backed it with coordinating flannel.

The striped one...ehem, my favorite...I made strips from flannel and from a t-shirt (orange and gray striped) of different widths. Then I sewed them together. After they were all sewn together, I cut the bib out of that and then backed it with a coordinating flannel.

LOVE.

I decided that two bibs wasn't going to cut it, so I added one of my handmade ties.

The tie was a hit...

I mean really...adorable. Can you already picture it on a extra tiny little man?

It was nice to see my sewing machine these last couple of days. I also sewed another present for a little girl...will show it off on Monday...I am pretty proud of it!

My machine will officially go into hiding on the 21st...parting will be such sweet sorrow....then it will be packed for quite a bit while we get settled into our new home. Let's see what I can bust out before then.

Have a delightful weekend!

Dapper Little Man Bow Tie Tutorial

Every proper young man should have his own bow tie. This one is a legit- for real-actual bow tie. The little piece of elastic in the back makes tying it easier. This is a fairly simple project and take just a smidge of time. Then you will have the most dapper Little Man around.

What you will need:

1/4 yard fabric
51/2" piece of 3/4" elastic
coordinating thread
bow tie pattern

Cut 4 pieces from the pattern.

Match them in pairs, like sides facing. Pin together.

Starting at the neck band part, sew with a 1/4" seam allowance all away around the outside all the way back to the opening at the band part. This is where you will turn it out. Before turning out. Clip corners.

Turn out. Iron flat.

Fold in neck band ends about 1/2 inch. Iron. Then pin elastic into each end. You will want to pin in about 1/2"  on each end of the elastic. Leaving the length about 4 1/2". Sew elastic into place. For more security, sew another line.

I seem to have missed the final untied photo.

But you are done. Now grab a quick how-to on tying a bow tie.

With your new skill, put it on the nearest most dapperest Little Man you know.

Then about die with how cute he is...

Seriously I HEART it.

Since I like a good coordinated set of outfits. I also had to make Littlest Little Man one of my ties.

Of course they wore it the Sunday before Valentine's Day.

Could you just die at the sight of the back of this tie? LOVE it.

Christmas Sunday Handsomeness

Yesterday I am pretty sure I had the handsomest Little Men around. Okay so I guess I am biased. But seriously have you seen anything cuter?

Every Christmas I struggle to dress these rascals for Christmas Sunday. Mostly because I would have to take a loan out to dress all three of them. This year I decided I would make them all ties...remember you too can have one of my super dooper handmade ties... and just add them to clothes/shoes they already had. Aside from actually making the ties, it was the easiest Christmas outfitting I have done in awhile.

Easiest and the handsomest. The ties were a hit, the boys were a hit.

Ties and Christmas outfits aside...

I am sure grateful for my brood of Little Men. They make my heart the happiest. They are a complete and utter joy. I feel blessed and honored to be their mother. In this season of giving and gifts for sure one of the gifts I am most grateful for is to be their momma.
