Thanksgiving Rock Turkey Craft

Thanksgiving Craft: Make a rock turkey for a cute place setting!

I love setting the Thanksgiving table. One of my favorite things at the Thanksgiving table, besides you know the food, is a really cute name place card. This year, I made really cute Rock Turkey name place cards for the kids Thanksgiving table.

There were so easy and fun to make.  This is also a pretty kid friendly craft.

  Rock Turkey Craft DIY 1

All you need is: rocks brown paint felt google eyes hot glue I started by spray painting all my rocks brown.

  Rock Turkey Craft DIY 3

I cut out feather shaped pieces of felt in orange, red, turquoise, and yellow. I also cut out tiny beak shaped triangles.

Then hot glue the google eyes and the beak onto the rock.

  Rock Turkey Craft DIY 5

Glue a yellow, turquoise, red, and orange feather together in a fan pattern.

  Rock Turkey Craft DIY 6

Put a large circle of hot glue at the base of the feather fan and firmly press the rock onto the glue.

Let the glue dry to make sure it sets. You can be done here, or you can add a name tag to make it a place setting for the kids' Thanksgiving table. To add the name tag, just print off the name on a piece of card stock and cut into strips.

  Rock Turkey Craft DIY 7

Set the Rock Turkey name card on top of a stack of cute patterned paper plates. This makes a place setting any kid will LOVE.

Simple Easter Decorations

I finally put up some Easter decorations.

I love these blue/green colors. I also love the simple pop of pink.

I was inspired by the new line of paper and elements by American Crafts, Dear Lizzie Fifth & Frolic (now available at JoAnn's). The line features refreshing and crisp blues, greens (which I obviously LOVED), pinks and yellows.

There is also absolutely delightful glitter paper.

The paper inspired several projects, including some much needed Easter decorations.

I used my Silhouette to cut out a lot of bunnies in the blues and greens and one in pink.

With the help of Mr. Elmer, I attached my bunnies to a blank canvas.

I spaced them out "evenly", or as "evenly" as I could eye ball. 'Cause that is how I roll.

I also cut out some 1/2" strips.

I glued them to a piece of cardstock paper.

On the back of the cardstock I drew an Easter egg shape.

Then I cut it out. I flipped it over and it gave me a lovely stripped egg.

I put it in a handy dandy frame from Ikea.

I had some leftover scraps of the strips, so I started punching out circles from the scraps and from another piece of pink paper.

I sewed them all together to make a little banner.

Now I have a little spot befitting a little Spring festiveness.

I have another project using this paper that I am excited to show you next week sometime if I can get my act together between two birthday parties and Easter. A sweet and lovely girly project. The kind of project I don't often get to do in this house full of boys.

Thanks for reading!
Have a fabulous day.

Cutting Edge Stencil GIVEAWAY and review

Do you like my new tote? I kind of like it too. My favorite thing about this bag is that I was able to custom make the main material to my little hearts delight.

Say what??!!

Yup, that is right. The main material was completely custom made.

Custom made you say? But that sounds like too much work and it sounds haaaarrd.

Guess what! Making my own custom fabric was easy peasy all thanks to Cutting Edge Stencils.

Cutting Edge Stencils contacted me asking me to review one of their stencils. I of course immediately said, "Why happily!"

They make so many fantastic stencils great for a variety of projects. I honestly couldn't decide. I literally took a week before finally narrowing down what to do.

Do I pick one of their fabulous wall stencils? If so, which one...for the love which one?!? Which wall? The possibilities are virtually endless and all wonderful. What is a girl to do?

But the possibilities didn't stop there. They have new craft stencils perfect for fabric and smaller projects.

Did you catch that I just said they make stencils for fabric? That was a hint to what I chose.

After much hemming and hawing I finally made my decision. Craft stencil it was.

The Zamira craft stencil to be exact.

Once I made my decision, I could hardly wait for my stencil to get here. Then it came!

This stencil can be used on fabric and on any small project.

I had visions of this tote almost right away. I also knew I wanted my pattern to be gray. I really have a fondness for gray.

I bought simple white duck cloth for my fabric canvas.

I picked out my paint.

I cut out all my pieces and then I started to stencil away.

The stencil was easy to use and only took a little patience. The good news is that Cutting Edge Stencils has a simple How-to-Stencil videos. Once I got the hang of stenciling, it was a breeze.

I soon had several lovely pieces. They dried quickly and before I knew it I was ready to start sewing with my new custom fabric.

Now thanks to some especially lovely stenciled fabric I have quite a gorgeous Carry All Tote.

Are you already imagining all the lovely things you can make using their stencils?

You know you are now listing in your head all the stenciling projects you can do.

You know you want one of your own!

Well woohoo! This is your day.

Cutting Edge Stencils are giving one of my readers(US Residents only) one stencil up to $50 in value. The winner will be able to pick out their favorite stencil and Cutting Edge Stencils will ship it to the winner for free.

A Pinteresting Wednesday: Bubble Bath Paints

Have you ever had one of those days where by the end of said day you can't recall really sitting down the whole day? One of those days where you are pretty sure smoke is coming from your ears and not out of anger but out of a blown fuse in what used to be your brain.

I had one of those days. Amazingly enough it was still a really productive day. I got a lot done, but they were all surprise projects. Tasks more like it. So I had not prepared for them, pumped myself up if you will. There was no self-induced pep talk to start my tasks off right.

For that reason, as I type this out my brain is having trouble conversing with my fingers and you are lucky that the post doesn't start looking like this..djapiob sjiw lsj;oigj jjjjjzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

PS that was my head hitting the keyboard from instantaneous uncontrollable slumber.

Since I am 30 seconds away from having a perma indent on my forehead in the shape of a space bar, I am keeping this little post short and sweet.

Here we are on A Pinteresting Wednesday. The day of the week where I share a completed project from one of my Pin Boards. One of the thousands of projects I have good intentions of doing/trying. Hehehe.

This was a very recent pin. LIKE I saw it, pinned it, and did it all in 30 minutes.

What can we glean from this?

This project is SUPER easy.

Not only was is super easy, but it was an immediate hit with the bath-taker in our house.

I mean what kid doesn't like Bubble Bath Paint.

All you need to gather is:

1 bottle 15 oz baby bath wash (clear)
7 TBS cornstarch
small containers
food coloring

Simple. Now mix cornstarch into baby bath wash until well mixed. Pour the mixture into separate containers...these are about 1 cup containers and I filled four.

Mix in a couple drops of each color. Stir well.

Put lid on and wait until bath time...if you can.

Little wanted to take a bath immediately. Thank heavens I talked him into waiting until after dinner and when Hubby was home.

The paint can be used with a paint brush or with their hands.

Good times had by all.

I give this project a happy, if somewhat exhausted, two thumbs way up.

How has your pinning been going? My pin boards grow by the hour day. So many good ideas, so little time.

Now off I go to snuggle with Hubby on the couch and fall asleep watch some TV.

Movie Theme Birthday Present-Boy Version

You know how in the previous post I said that I often procrastinate present giving. This boy version of the Movie Theme Present is case in point.

Mere days after rushing to get the girl version done for a party, I could be found sitting at my machine putting together a boy version for a party which was the next day.

Now, in my defense, I was already planning to do this present. PLUS I thought the party was at the end of the week. Good thing Hubby read the invite to me the night before otherwise we may have unintentionally missed the party.

Okay, so here is the boy version of my Movie Theme Present.

Boy pillowcase.

Here are some pillowcase tutorials:
