Ahoy! All Pirate Party Planners...

Arrr...me mateys, I am in need of yer assistance...well actually it is me almost 4-year-old scalawag that is in need of yer assistance...

Okay so you get me...I mean my drift. I am pretty sure that I can't keep typing with one eye closed...cause that is how your face automatically goes when ye are talkin' pirate...

My Middle Little Man has a birthday coming up...normally I am WAY more planned by now. I mean stuff is all purchased, lists have been made categorically with the headings of FOOD/DECOR/GAMES/CAKE/TAKE HOME....etc. I have scoured the internet for all kinds of ideas. By this point I pretty much already know what I am doing.

Here is what I know at this point...My Little Pirate found this material and LOVED it, so the whole party is going be based around this fabric...

pretty cute, huh? Yes I am going to make a pirate hat, and YES there will be eye patches.

Yeah, well that is where what "I know" ends.

Don't get me wrong, I have some ideas, but they all seem to be getting mingled up with Toy Story stuff. I start picturing a possible game to play and then I see Woody walking the plank with a peg leg. I start mentally sketching out a cake and then all I can see is Buzz steering a huge pirate ship made out of cake. Obviously I have problems.

SO all my crafty blogging friends here is where you all help me...

I would LOVE to see/hear about any pirate ideas you have heard about and/or done. DON'T be shy. I need all the ideas I can get..especially for activities. I mean 6-7 four-year-olds...I am gonna need some activities. So spill it. I know you got ideas, I mean if you don't do it for me...

Do it for him...

My banana eating Little Pirate. Bananas are good for pirates, right? Oh wait that is oranges, for the scurvy and all...oh well I bet pirates need their potassium too.

when i had my pirate birthday party as a wee one i had pin the parrot on the pirate's shoulder, i had a sand box that my mum fashioned to look like a treasure chest with real sand (messy i know!) and little treasures in it like figurines and whatnot; cheap and easy fun finds for kids etc.... those 2 ideas came to my memory right away so they must have been good! good luck!

Well it just so happens I did the same thing when my little guy turned 4. (3 years ago) but we had a blast. First we had a pirate ship (our jungle gym in the back yard) and once all the shipmates came and signed up to be part of Captin'.... treasure hunt they had to learn how to fight like a pirate ( found cheep foam swords) then they found the treasure map and followed the map to the burried treasure. Then they were bombed by fellow pirates (parent with water balloons). It was a BIG hit and the kids had fun. We had cake and present after the fun was done. Hope this helped!

Been to one pirate bday party and the Portland Pirate Festival (fun!!). The party didn't have anything special besides a pirate ship cake and pirate take home goodies. Big pirate felt hats would be fun, though I see you are doing hats. Maybe something like bobbing for apples, but convert the tub into a ship or a peg leg race which would be more a hopping race and maybe a foam peg leg that wouldn't support any weight. I remember seeing someone did a pirate bday and put pics online and they made all the food on skewers - kinda sword like.

We had a pirate party for my 4 year old also! We started with a picture treasure hunt to find their hat, hook and eye patch. Then they decorated a treasure chest. We had a pirate ship cake and then we had a pinata that was filled with pirate treasures such as coins and necklaces instead of candy! All of the favors were buckets and shovels filled with pirate stuff too! Hope you guys have as much fun as we did!

Kimberly did a creative pirate party for her boys. Ask her about it- and maybe she'll have stuff you can borrow. :)
